The Wild Man
At the one of the stretcher, almost hidden amongst the blackest of the animal hides, a pair of eyes glinted open.
At first Joe couldn't make out anything else. It was as if the mountain of furs itself had grown eyes. Then he realized the shadows araound the eyes were made not of animal hide but human hair. Thick, black, greasy locks, shot with grey, hung low over the brown and a heavy growth of coasers hair completly obliterated the lower half of what must be a face. Only the eyes were visible_dark, shining, blank.
With a shiver of suprise Joe realized he was looking at a man.
